Professional Experience
I have been involved in alternative dispute resolution in the public and private sector since 1992, acting as a decision maker in the areas of residential tenancies, employment, sports, human rights, property assessment and forestry

I conduct private arbitrations and harassment investigations and provide advice on conflict of interest and ethical issues.  I am currently an adjudicator with the Indian Residential Schools Adjudication Secretariat, the Sport Dispute Resolution Centre of Canada, and am on the AMEX  and KPMG dispute resolution roster. I am also a grievance arbitrator under Part I of the Canada Labour Code and an unjust dismissal adjudicator and wage recovery referee under Part III of the Code.  I have also been trained as a mediator.

Prior to entering the adjudicative field, I was Constitutional Counsel for the Government of the Northwest Territories, and in private practise in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories.

I have a Bachelor of Arts (political science major) and an LL.B. from the University of Calgary, a Certificate from the International Institute of Human Rights in Strasbourg, France, a diploma in International Economic Law from the University of Helsinki, and have taken courses at Cornell University’s Summer Institute of International & Comparative Law in Paris

I have also taken many courses in negotiation, dispute resolution and mediation.

Professional Organizations
I am a member of the Law Society of British Columbia, the Canadian Bar Association and the ADR Institute of Canada. I am currently an executive member of the British Columbia Arbitration and Mediation Institute.

I have been a volunteer with the Canadian Bar Association since joining in 1987, including being an executive member of the administrative, alternative dispute resolution and aboriginal law subsections and a member of the advisory committee to the judicial council for four years.  I have has also been a member of the Northwest Territories Law Reform Committee and the executive of the National Association of Women and the Law.

Community Involvement
I have served on the Board of Directors of the Yellowknife Y.W.C.A. and the Belfry Theatre in Victoria and was an honorary member of the Tree of Peace Friendship Centre Board in Yellowknife. I was a national figure skating judge for over 25 years and a Big Sister.

I am an avid runner and enjoy a number of outdoor sports including Nordic skiing, climbing, inline skating and kayaking.
