Professional Experience

Ms. Pinsky has been engaged in the practice of alternative dispute resolution in the public sector since 1988. She has been appointed to conduct arbitrations under the Residential Tenancy Act under several consecutive appointments, and has extensive experience in the field of arbitration. In addition, she has acted as a reconsideration adjudicator under the Crime Victim Assistance Program.

Prior to entering the adjudicative field, Ms. Pinsky was a practicing lawyer and managing partner of a Vancouver law firm for several years. Her law practice focussed on family law, with emphasis on mediation and negotiation to settlement; and a general practice including real estate and conveyances, wills and estates, and small business law. She managed a staff of up to fifteen lawyers and assistants.

Education / Professional Membership

Ms. Pinsky obtained a Bachelor of Laws at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She is a member of the Law Society of British Columbia and the British Columbia Arbitration and Mediation Institute.

Community Involvement

Ms. Pinsky has acted as lecturer and seminar leader on various legal topics, Long Range Planning workshops, and retreats. She has had extensive experience in chairing business and organizational meetings, and uses Roberts Rules of Order.

Ms. Pinsky has also been involved in community activities throughout her professional career. She has served as president of the Vancouver YWCA and as a representative on the provincial and national bodies of the YWCA. She was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Vancouver Public Library, and served as Vice Chairman and chair of the Finance Committee. Ms. Pinsky was a member and Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Riley Park Community Association. She has served as a member of the Board of Directors and as President of the Board of the Vancouver Talmud Torah School (an independent elementary school operating under the BC Ministry of Education and managed by its own Board of Directors.) She has served in many capacities for other charitable organizations..

In addition, Ms. Pinsky has spent numerous volunteer hours in youth sports activities such as hockey manager, baseball ump co-ordinator, etc. She is an ardent walker, reader, and traveler.
